Woods Mill Wardens

The summer holidays have started, so Ryan and Matt are back on weekdays at Woods Mill nature reserve for the next month and a bit.
Things are really coming to life with a bit of sunshine. There were two white admirals and two silver-washed fritillaries chasing each other around the coppicing area in Hoe Wood around lunchtime.
Quite a few dragonflies on the wing. Yesterday we saw a brown hawker cruising the lake and a couple of southern hawkers too.
Surprise of the day was hearing a male tawny owl calling from the bushes behind the Mill Ditch Field. Not sure what woke him up, but it was exciting to hear.
